Director of Rainbows Nanaimo (Central Vancouver Island area): Eden Wood
A Registered Director for Rainbows Canada, Eden is also the Community Coordinator for the Rainbows program at both community sites in Nanaimo. Every Rainbows site in Parksville, Port Alberni, Chemainus, Duncan, and Ladysmith is connected to a community coordinator and is overseen by a Rainbows Director. Rainbows Nanaimo has been offering grief support group programs to children & families in Nanaimo since 1988 (supported by RM Society). Every year about 200 kids and parents participate in small groups within this program in schools and community sites.
Volunteer Facilitators
Facilitators are trained local community members, who help provide support and facilitation peer support groups for children and families. We have facilitators who are students, retired or current teachers, parents, and caring citizens. All volunteers are screened and trained by the Director to follow the program mandate (this includes getting a criminal record check). Most of all, they help provide a friendly, comfortable, and caring environment for healing and growth.
